zēteō: to seek (Luke-John)

·       Lk 9:9: Herod sought to see Jesus. (Pure curiosity. Insufficient!)

·       Lk 11:54: leaders seek to catch Jesus in something he might say

·       Lk 12:48: to whom much given, much "required" (sought)

·       Lk13:6f: man seeks fruit on fig tree; I sought fruit, find none; cut it down

·       Lk 13:24: many seek to enter narrow gate, not able to.

·       Lk 15:8: woman loses 1 coin, searches carefully for it.

·       Lk 17:33: He who seeks life will lose it.

·       Lk 19:3: Zaccheus sought to see Jesus

·       Lk 19:10: Son of Man came to seek & save that which was lost. (Amen!)

·       Jn 1:38: Jesus to John's d's: Whom do you seek?

·       Jn 4:23: Father seeks those who worship him in sp. & truth

·       Jn4:27: None asked Jesus talking w/woman, "Whom do you seek?"

·       Jn 5:16,18: Jews sought to kill Jesus for Sabbath-breaking, even more for making himself equal with God.

·       Jn 5:30: Jesus sought not own will but will of Father who sent him

·       Jn 5:44: you receive honor fr. each other, don't seek honor only fr. God

·       Jn 6:24,26: crowd got in boats, to Capernaum, seeking Jesus; "You seek me not bec. of signs but bec. you ate & were filled."

·       Jn 7:1,11: Jesus stayed in Galilee bec. Jews sought to kill him. Jews seek Jesus at feast.

·       Jn 7:18ab,19,20: He who speaks fr. self seeks own glory; but he who seeks God's glory is true. Why do you seek to kill me? You're demon-filled; who is seeking to kill you?

·       Jn 7:25,30: Is not this Jesus whom they seek to kill? They sought to take Jesus but none laid hand on him.

·       Jn 7:34,36; 8:21; 13:33: Jesus: You will seek me & not find me. Jews repeat words. Again, Jesus: You will seek me, cannot come w/me. Says to d's, "You will seek but but again can't come."

·       Jn 8:37,40: you seek to kill me bec. my word has no place in you. You seek to kill me, who has told the truth.

·       Jn 8:50ab: I don't seek own glory; there is one who seeks & judges.

·       Jn 11:8,56: d's: Jews sought to stone you; are you going to feast? Crowd at feast seeks Jesus.

·       Jn 16:19: d's "desired" to ask Jesus about his saying "You will not see me, then you will see me.)
