Today’s study of the adjective means you should note what aspects of our lives is to be pure. A list of such items should not lead to increased self-effort but to consistent submission to Christ. It is His desire to produce His pure life in us.
katharos (adj): purity (in ritual sense)
· Mat 5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
· Mat 23:26: first cleanse inside of cup/dish, that the outside may be clean also.
· Mat 27:59: Joseph wrapped Jesus’ body in a clean linen cloth,
· Luk 11:41: give alms; then indeed all things are clean to you.
· Jhn 13:10ab: He who is bathed … is … clean; you are clean, but not all of you.”
· Jhn 13:11: Jesus said to disciples, “You are not all clean.”
· Jhn 15:3: You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
· Act 18:6: Paul shook garments, “I am clean. From now on I go to Gentiles.”
· Act 20:26: Paul: “… I am innocent of the blood of all men.”
· Rom 14:20: All things are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense.
· 1Ti 1:5: purpose of the command is love from pure heart, good conscience, sincere faith,
· 1Ti 3:9: holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience.
· 2Ti 1:3: I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience
· 2Ti 2:22: Flee … pursue … with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
· Tit 1:15abc: To the pure all things pure, to defiled & unbelieving nothing pure
· Heb 10:22: let us draw near … having our bodies washed with pure water.
· Jas 1:27: Pure, undefiled religion: to visit orphans, widows keep oneself unspotted from the world.
· 1Pe 1:22: having been purified, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
· Rev 15:6: seven angels w/seven plagues, clothed in pure bright linen
· Rev 19:8: bride in fine linen, clean and bright, the righteous acts of the saints.
· Rev 19:14: heaven‘s armies in fine linen, white, clean, followed on white horses.
· Rev 21:18,21: and the city & street was pure gold, like clear glass.
· Rev 22:1: And he showed me a pure river of water of life.
