Read Matthew 27:15-22.
Three times Pilate asserts "I find no fault in this
man." But Pilate doesn't know what
to do because he is afraid of the people.
This is often the case when this question is asked: What shall I do
with Jesus which is called the Christ?
There is no middle ground.
We either reject Him or receive Him.
ƒ We
may choose to betray Him as Judas did.
ƒ We
may deny Him as Peter did.
ƒ Or
like Pilate have nothing to do with this just man.
ƒ
Or even crucify Him as did the angry mob.
Whether we have nothing to do with Christ as Pilate did or
we outwardly crucify Him, we are rejecting Him.
I once read a gospel tract entitled "How to be
lost." After several pages of ways
people reject Christ, the fourth page was blank. Do nothing about Christ and you reject
Him. We either crown Him or crucify Him.
The importance of this question.
ƒ Our
future destiny and life depends upon our answer.
w John
3:36: life or God's wrath.
w John
14:1-3: no future hope if we reject Christ.
ƒ Our
present life is influenced by our answer to this question.
w John
1:11-13: we become Sons of God.
w Phil.
4:13: all things are possible.
w Rom.
8:28: all things work together for good.
All of this is related to the answering of this question.
A question that all must answer.
Christ was given to the world; therefore the world must
answer as to what they shall do with Christ.
Infidels and unbelievers have tried to do away with Christ but they
still have Him on their hands. A person
doesn't perish because he lies or commits murder or gambles or because is a
drunkard but because he rejects Christ.
A question that must be answered now.
This question is not answered at the judgment seat of
Christ. It is a question answered now
that will effect future judgment.
