Read Luke 24:13-35.
In this day of cold intellectualism we need to emphasize
the necessity of a heart experience. The
majority of reforms today are aimed at everything but the heart. We forget that:
w As
a man thinketh in his heart, so is he (Prov. 23:7).
w Keep
thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Prov.
4:23).
A believing heart.
1. The
sinfulness of the heart. (Gen. 6:5;
8:21; Rom. 1:21).
2. We
need a new heart. (Psalm 51:10; Acts
15:9).
3. We
need heart belief, not mere head belief (Acts 8:37; Rom. 10:9,10).
A broken heart.
(Psalm 51:17)
A broken heart is a broken life -- this is the only kind
of a life that the Lord can use. It is
only the soft clay that the potter can use.
The broken pitchers of Gideon let the light out. The broken alabaster box of Mary filled the
house with sweet fragrance. The life of
Job was broken (Job 16:12).
Have thine own way
Lord!
Have thine own way!
Thou are the potter,
I am the clay.
Mold me and make me
after thy will,
While I am waiting,
yielded and still.
The burning heart.
(Luke 24:32)
