The Christian Conduct in This Present World

(#249, Big Bear/Hinkley, 1948; RT (?), 1966))
Read Daniel 1:1-8.

The conduct of Daniel should be the conduct of Christians today.  Note his surrounding conditions:
  1. The governmental administration had passed from the hands of God’s people to those of the world.
  2. Daniel lived in a foreign land.
  3. Daniel was tested on many occasions.
Christians face today what Daniel faced in his day.  How did he conduct himself?
v  Daniel lived a separated life.  Dan. 1:8
“When in Rome do as the Romans do” wasn’t Daniel’s motto.
Ø  He did as the Lord wanted him to do.
Ø  Right was right with Daniel.
Ø  He was firm in His purpose.
Ø  He lived a separated life.  He said “no” to the things of sin and the world (1 Cor. 3:16-17).
v  Daniel lived that others could see God in his life (Dan. 6:5).
Ø  All knew that Daniel loved God and His Word.  It is too bad when people have to ask whether you are a Christian or not.
Ø  Daniel was bold and fearless in living for God (Dan. 6:10).
§  He wasn’t ashamed of his Lord.
§  He wasn’t ashamed to be caught on his knees.
§  He wasn’t afraid to be seen.
v  Daniel lived in constant communion with God (Dan. 6:10).
Ø  He prayed three times a day, though he was a busy man.
Ø  No den of lions could interrupt his devotion.
Ø  He gave thanks in the face of death.
v  Daniel believed God (Dan. 6:23).
This saved his life in a crucial time.  In these perilous days when harm would come to our soul, believe God as Daniel did.
v  Daniel read the Scriptures (Dan. 9:2).
Daniel read the prophetic Scriptures (Jeremiah).  In the present time God’s Word should have a large place in our lives.

Daniel’s life speaks of the wonders that god can work in the life of one who truly believes in Christ.
