(#43, ?)
Read 1 Thess. 5:1-11.
"Despise not prophesyings." 1 Thess. 5:20
"A more sure word of prophecy -- a light in a dark
place". 2 Pt. 1:16-21
Two-thirds of Scripture is prophecy and the second coming
is very prominent: 318 times in the NT, 50 times by Paul. The second coming is part of the gospel for
this age (1 Th. 1:9-10).
Dr. Dinsdale T. Young, pastor of one of England's greatest
Methodist churches, was recently asked if he were not surprised that more
reference was not made from the pulpits of today to the important subject of
the Lord's return. He replied that he
was very much surprised and disappointed.
"I am afraid" he said, "the worldliness that infects many
churches has an evil influence in that regard.
The thought of the Lord's return is very unpleasing to half-hearted
Christians."
Christ the only hope of the world.
Margaret Banning in the Saturday Evening Post came close,
but tragically missed the truth, when she said...
The more I hear 'security' taken out of it's proper context
in human experience and tossed about, the surer I am that many people are
indulging a false and a dangerous psychology.
For I believe that no one is in a position to promise security. I have my own substitute. I live in a troubled country, the future is
not at all clear. But I try not to be
afraid of it. Perhaps that is the
answer. Security is in a person.
The question is, which person?
1. Eph.
2:14.
2. John
14:27.
3. Isa.
26:3.
4. Luke
21:25-28.
Christ is the answer to the world's ills. Only when He comes will their be a cure. Are you ready for His coming?
