2500 Note the order of the first three items for the Tabernacle and their connection to Christ:
1.
25:10-22: The ark, with the mercy seat. It speaks of God’s presence with Israel. Christ in the Incarnation was Immanuel, “God
with us.” (John 1:14)
2.
25:23-30: The table of showbread. This speaks of God’s provision for His
people. Christ is the Bread of Life.
(John 6:41-51)
3. 3. 25:31-40: The Lampstand. Christ is the light of the world, the Light that gives life to every man that enters the world. (John 1:3-9; 8:12)
2508 It is God’s command to make Him a
sanctuary. It is for Him, to be able to
dwell among the people, which will be wonderful for the people. But note: not just any sanctuary, not according
to just any pattern (like some temple they had seen in Egypt), but according to the pattern of heaven, the one God showed Moses on the mountain (25:98;
26:30,40). When we sing “Lord, make me a
sanctuary” we need to understand it is for the same reason. God dwells with us by His Spirit and we need
to be a holy temple. And the pattern for
us, as a sanctuary, is in heaven: it is the Lord Jesus Christ!
2600 The contents of
this chapter really come to life when you are at Timna Park in Israel, the
sight of the full size Tabernacle, a tourist spot run by Christians who will
gladly give you a tour of the Tabernacle and speak of the wonders of Christ
that are on display.
·
26:1-14: The curtains.
·
26:15-25: The boards for the south, north and
west sides; there are none for the east because that is the entrance into the
Tabernacle.
·
26:26-30: The bars that hold the boards
together. As you read, note how this was
made to be dismantled, put on carts (except for the ark, table of
showbread, lampstand and altar of incense; Num. 4:1-11), carried to the next
rest stop and put up again for the arrival of the ark.
·
26:31-33: The veil that separated the Holy Place
from the Holy of Holies.
·
26:34-35: The arrangement of the various items.
·
26:36-37: The screen and 5 pillars from the
front/east side.
2631 26:31-35: Here is THE symbol of OT
worship. There was a fence around Mt.
Sinai. There was a fence around the
Tabernacle courtyard. Only sons of Aaron
could be priests. All these speak of
separation. But none so clearly as the
veil that separated the Holy of Holies from the Holy Place.
2700 This chapter
consists of:
·
27:1-8: The altar of sacrifice.
·
27:9-19: The courtyard.
·
27:20-21: The oil and the priestly care for the
lampstand.
