LOVE REJOICES IN THE TRUTH
1) Definition:

b) Truth vs Iniquity: they are often set against each
other.
i) John 3:21:
ii) 1 John 1:6:
Leon Morris: It is a reminder that even love cannot
rejoice when the truth is denied. There
is a stern moral element throughout the New Testament, and nothing is ever said
to obscure this. Love is not to be
thought of as indifferent to moral considerations. It must see truth victorious if it is to
rejoice.
c) As is iniquity, so Truth is a way of life (a walk). (2
Jn. 4; 3 Jn. 3-4)
d) Further, Truth is seen as Jesus Christ. (John 14:6;
Eph. 4:21)

b) The recent moral problems of our President (this study
was developed in the early 2000’s) offer a great "test" for the principles
we have in 1 Cor 13:6. Do you rejoice
over the problems of a political "enemy" (if he is your political
enemy)? Do you grieve over every sin?
Where the Spirit reveals sin be quick to repent & pray for change!
Alan Redpath: This is a very searching test of character. Are you heartbroken at the misfortune or
breakdown of other people? Or do you
have a tendency to gloat over them secretly and delight to gossip about
them? Love does not do that, for at the
cross mercy and truth met; there Jesus condemned sin but pardoned the sinner.
