LOVE BEARS ALL THINGS
1) Definition:
a) Greek:
i) The noun is the word for roof.
ii) Our passage has the verb meaning:
(1) Primarily, "to cover over".
(2) BUT from that a 2nd meaning: to endure, bear up.
iii) Note how a roof does both...
(1) Covers over what goes on in the house.
(2) Bears up under the strain of attacks from outside the
house.

imperfections of others.
ii) Both themes:
(1) Roy Lauren: It
is not the bearing of our own faults in the spirit of martyrdom, but the
bearing of others' faults. It is overlooking others' faults by putting a mantle
of kindness over them. ... Let us put a mantle of gracious charity over the
scars of another's life.

a. 1 Cor 9:12: we put up w/anything (inc. not receiving
pay from the Corinthians) rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.

ii. 1Pt 4:8: fervent love will cover a multitude of sins.
c. Luke 17:4: “And
if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns
to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”
