§  There is a Scriptural context...
§  "All" may be tempered by certain exceptions.

LOVE BEARS ALL THINGS
1)   Definition:
a)   Greek:
i)     The noun is the word for roof.
ii)    Our passage has the verb meaning:
(1) Primarily, "to cover over".
(2) BUT from that a 2nd meaning: to endure, bear up.
iii)  Note how a roof does both...
(1) Covers over what goes on in the house.
(2) Bears up under the strain of attacks from outside the house.

b)   Scripture:
i)     How is the covering theme expressed in these passages:
(1) Prov 10:12:
(2) Prov 17:9:
(3) 1 Pet 4:8:
ii)    How is the bearing theme expressed in these passages:
(1) Rom 15:1:
(2) Galatians 6:2:
c)   Commentary:
i)     Covering theme:
(1) Leon Morris:   Love conceals what is displeasing in another.
(2) Charles Hodge:  covers up all things, in the sense of concealing or excusing the faults of others, instead of gladly disclosing them.
(3) Albert Barnes: ...love is disposed to hide or conceal the faults and imperfections of others.
ii)    Both themes:
(1) Roy Lauren:  It is not the bearing of our own faults in the spirit of martyrdom, but the bearing of others' faults. It is overlooking others' faults by putting a mantle of kindness over them. ... Let us put a mantle of gracious charity over the scars of another's life.

2)   Illustrations:
How do each of the following demonstrate this aspect of love?
a)   Christ.
Alan Redpath: Love patiently endures what it has to suffer, and is not shaken by ingratitude; ... The Lord Jesus patiently bore all the wrong and injustice, and prayed on the cross...  At the same time, He put His shoulder under the load of sin and bore the crushing burdens of others.
b)   Moses, Num. 11:12-14.
c)   Paul, 1 Cor 9:12.
d)   Good Samaritan, Luke 10:30-37.
