The Palsied Man Healed or The Healing of a Sin-Sick World

(#224, Yermo/Kelso/Daggett/Hinkley, 1947; Imperial, 1956, 1962)
Read Mark 2:1-12.
v1: It was noised that He was in the house.  So it is in a Sunday School class or youth meeting: if people know Christ is exalted there they will come to Him.

v2: He preached the Word unto them.  There is one Book that can meet the needs of the world -- both sinner and saint.  May we preach it as Christ did.

ƒ    The four that brought the palsied to Jesus.
These represent each Christian and their place in bringing the sin-sick to Christ.
    1.  They realized the need of their friend.
    2.  Their goal was to bring him to Christ.
    3.  They had to overcome obstacles (crowd, the roof, etc).
    4.  They were diligent.
Why is it so many people take no pains with the Christian life?  What is the reason for their long string of excuses?  The same people are full of zeal about business, money, pleasure; why not Christian things?
    1.  They themselves had faith in Christ.

ƒ    The palsied man.
He represents the soul-paralyzed, sin-sick world today.
    1.  He had no hope outside Christ.
    2.  His greatest need was forgiveness.
    3.  He was helpless to meet his need.

ƒ    The Great Physician.
Jesus said: "They that are whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.  I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance." Note...
w   His compassion.  He did not rebuke the men for interrupting the meeting.  He stopped and said, "Be of good cheer."
w   His power to discern the trouble.  Jesus knows our needs!
w   His power to forgive sin.
w   His knowledge of men's thoughts.

Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever, is waiting to perform such a miracle today.
