God's Battle -- Not Ours

(#16, Hinkley, March 1944; Yermo/Kelso, 1950; Imperial 1957)
Read 2 Chron. 20:1-25.

Noting that we wrestle not against flesh and blood (Eph. 6:12), we need to know how we may stand against the enemy.
ƒ    He set himself to seek the Lord (v3-4).  This is always the first step of victory.  He went to God in prayer.  God is in heaven.  God still rules.  None is able to withstand him.

ƒ    We have no might against this great company (v10-12).  We must realize our weakness and God's strength.  We can contribute nothing (2 Cor. 12:9; Phil. 4:13).

ƒ    Our eyes are upon Thee (v12).  We mustn't get to looking too long at the great company.  Remember Peter began to sink when he took his eyes off Jesus.

ƒ    The battle is not yours but God's (v15,17,20).  Don't be afraid of the multitude (v15).  You need not fight in this battle (v17).  Rather, stand still and see! (Ex. 14:13; Job 37:14)  Ephesians also tells us to "stand and having done all to stand" (6:13-14).  The Lord is with you (v17).  Believe in the Lord! (v20)

ƒ    Praise the Lord (v20-22).  Anyone can sing after the battle is won.  Here God's people sing before the victory.  The enemy doesn't like us to praise God.  If we would do more praising we would live more victorious lives.

The battle is not yours but God's when it comes to our sin -- He fought for us and is victor.
