Read 1 Cor. 10:1-15.
The lack of trust is the root of sin and weakness. How shall we escape but by looking to God and
observing His faithfulness.
The person who holds God's faithfulness
will dare to obey Him.
w Abraham
held God's faithfulness and offered up Isaac.
w Moses
held God's faithfulness and led millions of Israelites into waste and howling
wilderness.
w Joshua
held God's faithfulness and led Israel over Jordon.
w The
Apostles held God's faithfulness and were not daunted by hatred of the Jews.
Satan tries to get us to doubt God's faithfulness by
asking "Has God said?" We have
over and over in the Scriptures statements as to God's faithfulness.
God's faithfulness in
temptation. 1 Cor. 10:13.
Spurgeon said: Sometimes God sends His love letters in
black edged envelopes. He allows us to
taste bitterness of want and the desolation of bereavement. It looks as if things have got out of hand
and somehow or other, we have been forgotten.
Remember this text, 'God is faithful who will not suffer the pain to
exceed the measurement of our endurance.'
Temptation (testing) is inevitable. It must come.
The Christian life would not be complete without it. But God is faithful. He will make a way of escape.
ƒ Joseph was tempted and tried above measure but in due time God place him on the throne of Egypt.
ƒ David
was hounded from place to place by those who should have been his friends. But he too found a way of escape. He finally reached the throne.
ƒ Job
was pronounced perfect and upright, then was sorely tried. But God was faithful to him so that his
latter was more blessed than his beginning.
God shows his faithfulness in two ways in temptation.
1. He
will not let us be tempted above our endurance.
2. He
will make a way of escape.
Remember there is One Who is faithful -- God is faithful!
