Isa. 19:18-25; Ezk. 39:1-6; Signs: In the realm of Politics

Let us move on to another area of the latter day world.  By politics we refer to what will transpire with respect to governments.

1.     In the realm of Politics.

a.     Wars and Rumors of wars, Mt. 24:6f; Rev. 6:3f.

b.     Global alliances:

As you read these you may tend to think the world is different today than in Bible times, with different names and boundaries of the nations.  But note this from Samuel Huntington’s The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order.  “Global political lines are being redrawn (since the end of the cold war) not according to ideology or superpower relations but with respect to shared cultural, ethnic, and religious characteristics.  Historic civilizations are replacing the geopolitical system of the past 50 years.”

                       i.      Roman Confederacy, Dan. 7:23-25

1.     A quick note: at the end of 2000 the European Union consisted of 15 nations.

ii.      Rise of Egypt, Isa. 19:18-25

                      iii.      World-wide government, Rev. 13:7

iv.      Rise of Northern (Baltic) powers, Ezek. 38:2f; 39:1-6

                      v.      Rise of Eastern (Asian) powers, Rev. 9:13-16

1.     China has been testing long-range missiles.

2.     The Iraq/Turkey border has been a volatile area.

c.     Global economy, Rev. 13:16f; 18

                      i.      The European Union involves most countries of Europe using the “Euro” or hoping to soon.  The Euro was issued 1/1/2002 and two months later replaced the national currencies of affected nations.

d.     Appearance of global improvement.

                                           i.      Travel, Dan. 12:4

                                           ii.      Knowledge, Dan. 12:4

                                           iii.      Riches, James 5:3

                                           iv.      Communication, Rev. 11:9

                                           v.      Peace, 1 Thess. 5:3

It was interesting that blood flowed in the Middle East AS peace teams from the area were talking in the United States.

e.     Global distress, Luke 21:25-26

f.      Preparation for Armageddon, Rev. 16:12-16.
