Today’s list of the prophets mentioned in 2 Chronicles goes well with the previous post that described the place of the Law of God in each of the kings. Even without the Law being prominent, God still sent His prophets to call the people and their leaders to repentance. These prophets are mentioned often in Scripture (e.g. Zech. 1:4-6 by Zechariah; by Jesus in Lk. 20:9-19 in the Parable of the Wicked Vinedressers; the martyr Stephen in Ac. 7:51-53).
We will not say much about these prophets,
most of whom do not have their names attached to a book of the Old
Testament. It would be worth your
time to study and meditate on their messages.
In parentheses are the particular king of Judah during whose reign they spoke for
the LORD.

When you read these stories, the important
issue is, “did the King heed the words of the prophet?” David sinned grievously, but when Nathan
confronted him he was quick to confess.
Solomon drifted off into the idolatry of his wives and it seems that he
never did repent. It just got worse as he
got older. Asa responded well early in
his reign and was rewarded with years of peace.
Then, he rejected the prophet and died in agony.
